Buyer Beware:

The medical emergency signaling service portion of the security industry is completely unregulated in Nova Scotia. That means anyone with the basic wherewithal to register a business name ($50.00 at the moment) can hang out a shingle, list a business phone number (a cellular phone number is OK with the Yellow Pages people), and start selling safety for senior citizens and anyone else with a risk of being rendered unable to call for help in any normal way. Worse, many of these “firms” are actually hobbyists who have a different full time job and treat your safety, or that of a loved one, as a part time money maker.
